  • @TIME in 1829 the govt of Mexico abolished slavery, causing a rebellion in Texas which seceded, fought a war & restored slavery in 1836 . in 1860 an abolitionist govt was elected in the USA, Texas then seceded from the USA, fought a war but was defeated & failed to restore slavery.

  • @TIME All of the “myth busting” in the first part of this article is actually well-known information for AT LEAST 25 years. Why all the focus now? Probably politically driven as most of these modern “reassessments” are.
