The last sentence uttered in my house was: “So, should we just eat the rest of the ice cream?” (And then we did).

A room in the executive office building near the White House is suddenly among the busiest in DC after admin installed a coronavirus test machine and said everyone who meets with Trump — along w/many aides — have to take a test. W/⁦@DavidNakamura⁩:

What's the best cook book you've bought in the last few years that was not written by Alison Roman or Ottolenghi ???

Controversial opinion: Ottolenghi cookbook is overrated. Yes, the photos are beautiful, as is the thick cover material. BUT the recipes are WAY too hard for a casual cook and you can never find his ingredients — dried barberries, 2 tbsp Pilpelchuma — spur of the moment.

This piece by @reidepstein is the most thorough and straightforward thing I've read explaining the how and they why of what's happening in Wisconsin today.

With the exception of repeated mediocre high school track finishes... I have never run as much in my life as I have during the coronavirus. And it is the only thing keeping me sane. 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

I often tell people: Look, if you're angry and you think you might be about to say something you'll regret, just fly to Guam and think it over. Fly 8,000 miles. It'll clear your head.

The new press team has plans to “rapidly professionalize the operation” inside the White House, say people familiar with the discussions: McEnany expected to reinstate briefings post-covid, rapid response team to be emphasized, & reporter inquiries will be returned.

Something I learned today: At the Mount Sinai hospital in South Nassau, Long Island, every time a COVID-19 patient recovers enough to leave, they play “Here Comes the Sun” over the PA system. Across all Mount Sinai hospitals, more than 1,100 patients have been discharged so far.

#BREAKING: I spoke to the president and he has agreed to our request to treat #COVID patients on the USNS Comfort. This means 1,000 additional beds staffed by federal personnel. This will provide much-needed relief to our over stressed hospital systems.

I started thinking: I’m 33 years old. I don’t have any kids at home. I don’t live with older relatives. About an hour after the meeting, I emailed my supervisor. “I’m happy to do this. It should be me.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/04/05/youre-basically-right-next-nuclear-reactor/ … via @elisaslow
