If Brooklyn is not out of fireworks after tonight it is definitely a psyop

I don’t know where I thought RED HOOK SUMMER was going, but, yeah, not there...

Really what I’m saying is, I am obnoxious with my opinions and so my decision not to watch Hamilton is a public service. You’re welcome!

Me, reading Twitter this weekend: “Well people sure do have some intense feelings about Hamilton!” Me, reading Twitter this weekend if I’d seen Hamilton: “Everyone is talking about Hamilton and 99.9% of them are wrong!!!! Here is what you fools don’t get [1/472]”

I just can’t imagine the pleasure of watching Hamilton exceeding the relief of never having to discuss Hamilton

I am so upset by the idea of forming any opinion at all about Hamilton that I will probably never see Hamilton

Quoted @BBCTwo

Earl Cameron is over 100 years old, and was the first ever black actor to star in a British film. #BlackHollywood: They've Gotta Have Us | 9pm | @BBCTwo | https://t.co/pIdgGdHPoN https://t.co/YMDrqEekTZ

Earl Cameron passed today at age 102. A pioneer who appeared in Pools of London, Doctor Who, and Thunderball -- one of his final credits came in the two-part Black Hollywood documentary series: They've Gotta Have Us. Which is on @NetflixFilm and we'll worth the watch. https://t.co/hhSmryuYPH

The only good news is that the new Baby-Sitters Club show is on Netflix today. I have a very low tolerance for Disney Channel style tween TV, so believe me when I say this is super enjoyable even for adults. https://t.co/rWkPare5Ka

A word for my fellow music journos, young and old: you do not want to be a willing participant for an abuser's comeback narrative.

Also pretty insulting to shrug off the Jezebel story without really engaging with it

Which is to say: someone who isn't a straight guy a full generation older than everyone involved in the story. I was a big fan of Knopper's book Appetite for Destruction, but he shouldn't have been given—or accepted—this assignment.

I don't know that the PWR BTTM story should be totally off-limits forever, but if you're going to re-litigate it at length in one of the few music magazines left standing, you at least have the responsibility to hire a reporter the accusers might feel comfortable speaking to.

I mean, it's too late to fix this stuff now, but imagine if most of America's great alt-weeklies had been collectively owned by their writers and editors?

Can't stop thinking about Joan Micklin Silver's Between the Lines—on Criterion—a bittersweet dramedy about journalists at an alt-weekly in the '70s, as rich guys started realizing there was money to be made in buying up counterculture publications.

I think what makes me truly furious about Nemesis Chic is that it draws even conscientious objectors into a poisonous, self-defeating game that you're also often punished, socially if not professionally, for refusing to play

I don't know who needs to hear this but: "Everyone has a nemesis now, against whom we should compare our own achievements. This is a dangerous way of thinking, and only serves to reinforce a logic of scarcity." — @BrandyLJensen https://t.co/A6a5ygL1h1

I'm off today, so I only realized this had gone live because some lady felt the need to email me: "I'll be celebrating my nations independence from British rule while cooking, drinking beer and watching fireworks. Without any regard for race." You said it, not me, Karen.
