Meet Jalaiah Harmon, the 14-year-old who created the Renegade, the dance taking over TikTok, high school pep rallies and the internet. “I was happy when I saw my dance all over,” she said. “But I wanted credit for it.”

Glad she is getting credit. Many creatives on the internet know too well how research, content, expression, creativity, intellectual property, ideas, etc can be hijacked by others & especially those with larger platform & receive no credit or inspiration/influence acknowledge.

This scenario would be so much more 'impactful' if a disabled transsexual dwarf of color originated these moves. Able bodied teenagers who gyrate to music are so Twentieth Century. We have evolved from the oppression of 97% of population; this lack of diversity is 'problematic'.

Children like Jalaiah growing up with social media have innumerable opportunities to develop their talents and must receive credit for their work. Educational systems can help create entrepreneurship in our youth and teach them how to advocate for their art. #renegadedance

I hate how the twitter description says the the girl who “says” she invented the renegade dance. If you don’t- 👋🏿
