i have begun my work in Seoul A LOT earlier than I thought so I’ve been a bit MIA -🥶
however, I did a korean street fashion vibe check on myself and it seems the oversized OY trench coat agrees ,,,🖤
ILY ARMY I miss you and I’m excited for the COMEBACK💕 – at 청담도로공원 (Cheongdam Road Park)

I can’t speak that ALL Koreans are this way but culturally I’ve had the most success here. It doesn’t mean it’s the easiest country to live in or that it’s like living in a k drama fantasy bc it’s not. I just mean in GENERAL.

I couldn’t BELIEVE she went out in the cold and brought me that. I was so overwhelmed with emotion. I felt so blessed to have become acquainted with her. Sometimes I teach her a bit of English if she asks me. She of course loves BTS too which we established by her phone case 🥰

I’ll be honest, of all the countries I’ve lived Korea has been the very kindest, warmest most welcoming culture. They are friendly and loving if you leave yourself open to it. I am not used to this in Japan. Koreans treat me much better hands down. Not just her but others.

💜OMG,,,,my 16 year old korean neighbor brought me a birthday cupcake 🧁 she said she wanted to cheer me up since I was alone for it 😭 she said in Korea friends bring you cakes 🥺🥺🥺 I cried 100% and we sat and ate it together after I blew out the candle 💕

Let me follow this up by saying I was really the only one there. The bartender said nobody will come because of coronavirus. He even served me with a mask on and I kept mine on and sipped my drink through a straw under my mask. It was really like THAT. Gloves, the whole thing.

All outdoor activities in the city are shut down, concerts, performances, meetings, assemblies etc. Hardly anyone in bars, coffee shops or department stores. Sharply declining in my opinion.

Nobody is taking buses or the subway. Hardly anyone. Medical masks are out of stock in most stores. Im having a hard time finding them. The streets are mostly empty unless walking to or from work. Koreans trending hashtags petitioning to work from home. Nobody wants to go out.

travel advisory for South Korea to Level 2..... “exercise increased caution” in the country, by avoiding contact with sick people and frequently sanitizing their hands. In late January, the State Department raised its advisory for China to the highest level, “Do not travel.”

“there is a growing sense of fear that, with each of the past several days bringing a sharp increase in the number of cases, the outbreak of COVID-19 may be reaching epidemic levels, with the [Korean] government having missed the opportunity to contain it.” -Time Magazine 0224

there is a hidden underground bar in Seoul I went to for my birthday tonight.
the bartender said to me in korean “길을 잃었어요?” and I said “아니.” then he said “perfect, you are Alice and I am the white rabbit”
I spent the entire night talking to Suwon, my new friend 💓🐰 – at 청담도로공원 (Cheongdam Road Park)

They have shut down Hongdae street bc of coronavirus- no busking, nothing. It really is unfortunate for these boys bc they make most of their money this way. But we must all remain safe.
💕💕💕 maybe tomorrow but mapo always says that. They may not lift the ban.

ANDDDDD never mind, I’m now going back to Cheongdam. Chungeun just sent a message that mapo cancelled the outdoor busking as well. So, I will not see them. I’ll head out to dinner and drinks instead. I really wanted to see Gyuchan too. 😞

I’m going to see Gyuchan and the boys busk in Hongdae before I go out for my birthday but even so, Mapo-gu has banned indoor busking bc of coronavirus and the boys have said even outdoor busking a mask is required to interact with them and gloves. So, I’m obviously prepared.

The paranoia in Seoul over the coronavirus outbteak is alive and well. Every person in the country including myself has a mask on. Many ppl are staying home but still we must go to work and live so, it’s kinda lame. Daegu is practically a ghost town rn

it’s understandable to an extent. I mean at least he asked me instead of flat out refusing. He actually told me after we began driving that I look very clean so he felt comfortable. I was like .......thanks ?!?

my Korean driver just asked me “중국에서 왔습니까?” (have you come from China?) and I’m like “아니.” (no) and he said “외국인 여행자?” (foreign traveler) I said “나는 서울에 산다” (I live in Seoul) and he said if I was in transit he wouldn’t drive me because of Coronavirus 😷

Let me clarify: the ones by ME closed early this time and there’s just less convenience stores in Seoul than Tokyo with one every 15 feet. There are many who are 24/7.
